Gowanda On the Move
Like many Rust Belt communities, the Village of Gowanda has faced the challenges of economic decline and industrial loss. But despite these hardships, Gowanda has remained resilient and forward-looking.

The community has made major strides—from transforming the former Center Street School into Academy Place, to restoring the historic Hollywood Theater, and redeveloping brownfield sites like Zoar Valley Gateway Park and the AVM Superfund Site.

With support from Smart Growth and Safe Routes to School grants—and new efforts underway to secure rail and Brownfield Opportunity Area funding—Gowanda is embracing revitalization that reflects modern trends in culture, recreation, tourism, and community development.

Gowanda is on the move—rebuilding its future while honoring its past.
