POLICE DEPARTMENTOfficer In Charge
Ross Olszewski The Gowanda Police Department is a operation that is supervised by the Officer-in-Charge.
The Gowanda Police Department celebrated its 100th year in existence in November of 2006. The Department has seen many changes over the years. Their presence in our community is what helps keep Gowanda a safe and wonderful place to live and raise a family. The Village is divided into two counties at the Cattaraugus Creek. The Cattaraugus County portion of the Village is located in the Town of Persia and the Erie County portion is located in the Town of Collins. Our mission is to provide excellent service and protection through leadership and partnership with the community. Protecting the community is at the core of what we do, but we also provide a variety of traditional and non-traditional services. We will accomplish our mission by being leaders in the community and working hand-in-hand with the public to make Gowanda a great place to live. CODE RED This program has been up and running at the Village of Gowanda since May 1, 2014. CodeRED is a phone messaging system to issue warnings on storms or other emergencies, as well as scheduled street closings, power outages or other non-emergency situations of public interest. A database of village residents will be developed using home phones, cell phones, e-mail, texting and whatever other platform a residence specifies for notification. CodeRED calls can even be made to smart phones and iPads.
